Fresh plugs and a clean air filter are the cheapest tune-up you can give a VT750C2. Here's what fits and how to do it.
Spark plugs
- Count: two plugs, one in each cylinder (front and rear).
- Standard plug per the Honda service manual: NGK DPR6EA-9 or Denso X20EPR-U9.
- For extended high-speed riding Honda calls for one step colder: NGK DPR7EA-9 or Denso X22EPR-U9. The DPR7EIX-9 is NGK's iridium version of that plug.
- Gap: 0.8-0.9 mm (0.03-0.04 in).
- Interval: inspect at 4,000 mi and replace at 8,000 mi, then repeat on that cycle.
- Socket: 18 mm plug socket. The hex is 18 mm, not the usual 5/8 in.
- Thread: 12 mm x 1.25, 19 mm reach. Torque into aluminum: 10.8-14.5 lb-ft (NGK spec).

Air filter
- OEM: Honda 17213-MEG-000.
- Aftermarket match: HiFlo HFA1712. It's listed for the 2007-2009 VT750C2 and the 2004-2009 Aero.
- It's a drop-in replacement. You don't need to rejet.
- The stock element is viscous paper. Don't clean it; replace it.
- Interval: replace at 16,000 mi per Honda's schedule, sooner if you ride in dust or wet.
- Access: pull the socket bolts on the air cleaner cover, take out the element, and check the O-ring. Torque the cover bolts to 1.5 N·m (1.1 lb-ft). That's barely snug.
